Role
The Communications and External Relations Volunteer supports Jumuiya Development Foundation's emerging team to build a strong, credible, and engaging public presence through communications, visibility, storytelling, and external engagement.
Key Duties
- Support development and implementation of communications and visibility plan
- Help develop consistent organizational voice, identity and messaging across all channels
- Develop monthly communications and content calendar
- Manage official social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp)
- Plan, draft, schedule, publish and monitor social media content
- Create engaging content including posts, graphics, photos, videos, reels and stories
- Update and maintain the organization website (jumuiyafoundation.org)
- Draft blog posts, news updates, event summaries, newsletters and press releases
- Attend meetings to prepare minutes, summaries and action points
- Document work through stories of change, interviews and multimedia
- Represent Jumuiya at selected meetings and events when formally delegated
- Maintain contact database of partners, stakeholders and collaborators
- Identify opportunities for partnerships, public engagement and volunteer recruitment
Qualifications
- Diploma, undergraduate degree, or relevant training in communications, journalism, public relations, media, marketing, development studies, international relations or related field
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills in English
- Experience managing social media platforms for an organization or initiative
- Basic digital content creation skills (graphic design, photography, video)
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Workspace, WordPress
