Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH) Diocese of Jinja is a newly established state-of-the-art Private Not For Profit (PNFP) hospital in Jinja City, founded by the Trustees of the Catholic Diocese of Jinja under the Ecclesiastical Province of Tororo Archdiocese in Eastern Uganda. Its mission blends clinical excellence with Christ-centered compassion to heal body, mind and spirit while serving both affluent and vulnerable communities without discrimination, and it is envisaged as a future teaching and research hospital offering quality and affordable Godly-touch services. The hospital is part of the Catholic health network coordinated by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) - the health office and technical arm of the Health Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference - which coordinates 33-34 hospitals, 15-19 training schools and over 264-271 lower level health units with more than 10,000 health workers nationwide and promotes primary health care, quality and patient safety, and sustainability in line with national health policy (https://ucmb.co.ug/). Its founder, the Catholic Diocese of Jinja, was established on 5 August 1966 from the former Diocese of Kampala to serve the entire Busoga region (Jinja, Kamuli, Iganga, Bugiri, Kaliro, Buyende, Namayingo, Namutumba, Luuka, Mayuge), bordered by Lake Victoria, Lake Kyoga, River Nile and River Mpologoma, with 45 parishes, 45+ schools and 12 health centres, rooted in missionary heritage from the White Fathers (1889-1890) and Mill Hill Missionaries (from 1899) and committed to evangelization, education, healthcare and holistic community development (https://dioceseofjinja.com/).
