Actuarial Officer

Job Details

GA Insurance Uganda is seeking an Actuarial Officer to undertake risk assessments through authentic data and analysis, support pricing and profitability monitoring of insurance products, and work closely with Finance, Underwriting, Claims and Risk functions. The role is based in Uganda on a full-time basis and reports within the actuarial function.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake risk assessments through provision of authentic and dependable data and analysis on risk and accidents.
• Analyse statistical data on all insurance risks and accidents.
• Computer modelling of statistics to determine potential risk.
• Assist in the pricing and review of insurance products.
• Prepare accurate actuarial data and ensure the integrity and completeness of information used for analysis.
• Monitor the performance and profitability of insurance products and portfolios.
• Work closely with Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Risk and other business functions.
• Review all company and client data before it is presented and ensure it is well in order.
• Review the performance of actuaries and the accuracy of the analysis and predictions.
• Participate in automation and process-improvement initiatives within the company.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
• Successfully completed a minimum of 5 actuarial papers.
• At least 3 years relevant experience.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A member of the Actuarial Association of Uganda.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• High levels of accuracy and integrity.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving ability.
