Job Details

Associate - Business Services and Outsourcing at BDO Uganda, based in Kampala. Full-time role providing high-quality accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance services to clients across various sectors in line with the Firm's standards and methodologies. The Associate maintains client financial records, prepares management accounts and statutory returns, supports business process improvements and ensures compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory frameworks. Work hours: 8. Base salary not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of all assigned client tasks per the Firm's standards, methodologies and timelines
  • Prepare client deliverables including management accounts, reconciliations, reports and presentation decks within agreed deadlines
  • Maintain accurate books of accounts for clients and prepare periodic financial statements in line with applicable reporting frameworks and local regulatory requirements
  • Carry out process reviews and assessments in accordance with agreed client frameworks or terms of reference
  • Prepare clients' and payroll payment schedules in an accurate and timely manner; assist with client payroll processing cycle including statutory computations
  • Prepare and file accurate payroll returns and ensure all statutory deductions are computed and filed within stipulated timelines
  • Address review comments and instructions received from supervisors in client-specific tasks and deliverables
  • Ensure all client tasks are carried out according to firm policies and apply risk management procedures to ensure engagements are compliant with internal policies
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients by being responsive, accessible and solutions-oriented; communicate regularly with clients regarding ongoing assignments and deliverables
  • Contribute toward achievement of financial target by registering utilization of at least 85%; contribute towards business development by identifying opportunities for serving existing or new clients and participate in proposal writing/drafting financial quotes
  • Proactively identify ways to streamline client service processes and contribute ideas for automation, templates or efficiency improvements
  • Stay updated with changes in tax, accounting and financial reporting standards and communicate relevant updates to team or clients; attend internal/external training sessions and apply learnings
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisors

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field
  • ACCA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification in progress or completed
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit or outsourcing services
  • Working knowledge of local tax laws and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Xero
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Able to effectively support all aspects of engagement delivery end-to-end
  • Fast learner and analytical thinker with excellent business writing skills
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong team collaboration, time management, integrity and confidentiality
