Job Details
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment and devices at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital in Mbarara City, Uganda. This is a full-time position based in Mbarara City. Working hours are 8 hours per day. Salary is not disclosed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on all biomedical equipment, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring devices.
- Diagnose and repair faults in medical equipment, replacing defective parts and ensuring proper functioning.
- Calibrate medical equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new biomedical equipment.
- Ensure all medical equipment meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and equipment, and coordinate with procurement for replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities.
- Train clinical staff on the proper use, handling, and care of medical equipment.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and external service providers for specialized repairs.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Equipment Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of maintenance, repair and calibration of biomedical equipment.
- Understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements for medical devices.
- Skills in inventory management, documentation and training.
