Business Development Officer – Agriculture

Britam Uganda is seeking a Business Development Officer – Agriculture to support the consistent growth of the Alternative Distribution Channel (ADC) in Kampala, Uganda. The role holder will analyze ADC performance, identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiency and profitability, and support smooth running of all channel operations. The position is Full Time, based at Primary Location Uganda-Kampala-Kampala, reporting within the ADC function under the ADC Channel Lead and working closely with Finance for premium allocation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively work with supervisor in analysis of ADC performance and propose and implement initiatives for growth of the channel.
• Drive achievement of sales revenue targets for different agency outlets, partner outlets and travel book.
• Conduct spot/audit checks on productivity of agency and partner outlets and adherence to company and regulatory requirements with support from ADC channel lead.
• Ensure all internal compliance requirements are adhered to including agents licensing and renewal requirements as per laid down company renewal procedures.
• Support smooth running of ADC operations as guided by the ADC lead.
• Serve as primary contact for agents inquiries and concerns and ensure these are timely closed.
• Support training initiatives of the ADC for agents and respective partner outlets.
• In liaison with Finance, effectively allocate all premiums from MTP stations as per the UIA system.
• Prepare timely reports for the channel as and when need arises.
• Deliver on performance requirements as defined in the department's strategy map and Personal Scorecard.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• 3–5 years' experience in a similar position.
• Experience working with diverse teams.
• Experience working in the financial services sector with focus on business development is an added advantage.
• Good Communication Skills, Building Relationships, Focuses on the Customers, Develops Self, Solves Problems.
• Key Performance Measures: Execution of departmental strategy, ADC Revenue Growth, 100% Compliance, Effective allocation of MTP Premiums, Timely reports.
