CIC Insurance Group PLC is seeking a Business Development Officer – Learning & Religious Institutions based in Kampala, Uganda. The role reports to the General Manager - Business Development and is responsible for identifying, developing and managing business opportunities within the education and faith-based sectors including schools, universities, churches, mosques and other religious institutions. Employment is full-time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities with schools, churches and related organizations and initiate discussions with potential institutional partners
- Promote CIC products to maximize sector penetration and implement business development strategies aligned with company goals
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure retention and new business; conduct regular client meetings, check-ins and follow-ups
- Handle customer complaints, address inquiries and ensure timely resolution; support client retention through regular engagement
- Prepare and present client proposals, presentations and service demonstrations; develop tailored proposals and packages suited to institutional needs
- Conduct product training for new and existing clients and educate clients on product features, usage and value; provide post-training support and follow-up
- Engage and support intermediaries and partners to drive business acquisition and retention; represent CIC at sector forums, conferences and exhibitions
- Gather market intelligence and customer insights, monitor sales pipelines and ensure timely follow-up on leads and prospects
- Track and report on business development activities, sales performance and revenue growth; maintain accurate client and sales records using company tools
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards and institutional protocols; support internal and external audits
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Banking & Insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline
- Professional insurance qualification such as ACII, CII or Diploma in Insurance
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in sales and business development
- Strong sales and business development skills with good insurance product knowledge
- Excellent customer service orientation and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Clear communication and presentation skills
- Analytical and reporting ability
- Strong compliance and risk awareness, good planning and time management, adaptability and resilience
