Job Details

The Captain B737 will be designated for each flight under Uganda Airlines Operations. The Captain is in-charge of the safety, security and conduct of flight while on duty and supervises all actions and activities of other crew members on that flight. The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) exercises final authority in relation to operation of the aircraft and is responsible for its safety and security as well as that of passengers, crew and cargo from the moment the aeroplane is ready to move for take-off until it finally comes to rest and engines are shut down or aircraft is parked, locked and sealed. The PIC may apply greater safety margins than specified by the Company for normal operations. Duty Station: Entebbe. Employment Type: Full Time. Work Hours: 8. Willingness to relocate and be based in Uganda is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exercise final authority and responsibility for the safety, security and operation of the aircraft, passengers, crew and cargo during all phases of flight.
  • Supervise all actions and activities of other crew members on the flight.
  • Take all measures required for safety during all phases of flight and ensure no undue influence is exerted on PIC responsibilities.
  • Apply greater safety margins where necessary for aerodrome operating minima, fuel reserves, terrain clearance and other safety considerations.
  • Set and deliver operational standards, ensure on-time performance and compliance with company and regulatory procedures.
  • Manage and lead large numbers of people, influencing at all levels across cultural differences and barriers.
  • Ensure quality, attention to detail and professionalism in flight operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and Instrument Rating (IR).
  • Hold a valid Class 1 Medical.
  • 5000 hours flying experience inclusive of 2000 hours jet.
  • 1500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on B737NG/MAX.
  • Last flown the B737NG/MAX within the past 6 months from date of application.
  • 500 hours minimum Instructional hours on type for designated Instructors/Training Captains.
  • No Accident or Incident record and no criminal record.
  • English language proficiency level 4 minimum.
  • Individual assessments for satisfactory command ability will be carried out as part of the interview process.
  • Strong team management and customer service orientation.
  • Results focused with bias for action and on-time performance; well-developed commercial awareness and excellent negotiating skills.
  • Strong leadership aptitude and ability to influence people at all levels through excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and work across cultural differences and barriers; 5+ years airline experience in similar role.
  • Experience managing large numbers of people, attention to detail, quality and professionalism.
  • Willingness to relocate and be based in Uganda.
