Job Details
KCB Bank Uganda is hiring a Collections and Recoveries Manager to manage loans where credit exposure is at risk. The role covers the full remedial portfolio classified as Early Alert, Watch, Substandard, Doubtful and Loss, with the goal to minimize credit losses, maximize recoveries and operate within agreed targets in line with Bank of Uganda regulations. Location is Uganda (Kampala) on Full Time basis.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage loans qualified as Early Alert, Watch, Substandard, Doubtful and Loss to minimize credit losses and maximize recoveries within agreed targets
- Control specific provisions within budget and ensure adequate provisioning on all accounts in accordance with credit policies
- Visit clients/centres/branches independently or with Managers as part of evaluation for better understanding of distressed clients' businesses
- Prepare reports on credit classification, provision, write-offs, suspension of interest and write-backs on a periodic basis in accordance with Bank of Uganda regulations and bank policies pertaining to remedial and special assets
- Review on a periodic basis a sample of credit decisions made by credit authority holders within the unit
- Attend to audit requirements and provide responses to audit remarks / ensure rectification thereof in respect of Credit Support Unit
- Monitor compliance with TAT and other service level agreements
- Support creation of new policy and manuals, continuously streamline and update existing Credit Policies and Manual
- Formulate exposure/recovery strategies, action plans and supervise implementation for expedited closure while managing recovery costs within budgets
- Provide support to the business unit in the management of non-performing debts
- Prepare Board papers in line with docket
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Experience in credit risk, collections, recoveries and remedial management in banking or financial services
- Knowledge of Bank of Uganda regulations on credit classification and provisioning
- Strong credit analysis, negotiation and recovery strategy skills
- Report writing and audit compliance skills
- Ability to manage non-performing portfolios and work with business units
