Communication Officer

Job Details

St. Mary's Hospital Lacor, a private, non-profit hospital located in Gulu City, Uganda, is seeking a qualified and self-motivated Communication Officer. The Communication Officer will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing communication strategies that promote the institution's image, enhance stakeholder engagement, and ensure timely dissemination of accurate information. This is a full-time position based at Gulu City, Gulu. Reporting line as assigned by hospital management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication and publicity strategies.
• Prepare press releases, newsletters, reports, speeches, and other communication materials.
• Manage internal and external communication channels.
• Support the institution's public relations and branding activities.
• Coordinate media relations and respond to information requests.
• Document institutional events and maintain communication records.
• Manage social media and digital communication platforms, where applicable.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Information, International Relations, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in communication, public relations, media, or a related field.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professionalism.
