Advocate for Community Development and Environmental Protection (ACODEP) is recruiting for an upcoming multi-sectoral initiative focused on women’s participation in environmental peacebuilding, climate action, GBV/SGBV prevention, human rights protection, and environmental justice.
The Community Services Officer (Focus: GBV/SGBV, PWDs, Child Protection, Youth & Women) will support community-based interventions focused on gender-based violence, sexual and gender-based violence, child protection, disability inclusion, youth empowerment, and women's participation. This is a 1-Year Renewable Contract position based in Kampala (Kampala). Work Hours: 8 hours. Salary: Not Disclosed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate community outreach and mobilisation activities.
- Support prevention and awareness programmes on GBV/SGBV.
- Promote women's participation in community decision-making and development.
- Support child-protection initiatives.
- Promote inclusion and participation of Persons with Disabilities.
- Support youth-focused programmes and activities.
- Identify community protection concerns and refer cases through appropriate mechanisms.
- Work with local leaders, service providers, community groups, and relevant authorities.
- Conduct community awareness sessions and capacity-building activities.
- Maintain accurate records of community activities and referrals.
- Support monitoring and reporting of community interventions.
- Promote confidentiality, safeguarding, dignity, and non-discrimination.
- Contribute to development of community-based protection and inclusion strategies.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Experience working on GBV/SGBV, child protection, disability inclusion, youth, or women's programmes is highly desirable.
- Strong community mobilisation and communication skills.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and referral mechanisms.
- Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable groups.
- Minimum experience of 12 months.
