Royal Bistro Cafe And Restaurant-Mengo is hiring Cooks / Kitchen Assistants to support the kitchen team at 123 Royal Street, Mengo, Uganda. The role involves preparing ingredients and assisting with cooking and service to deliver a royal experience in every bite. This is a full-time position with 8 work hours per day. Base salary is not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other food items.
• Assist cooks and chefs with basic cooking tasks, such as grilling, frying, boiling, and baking under supervision.
• Keep the assigned workstation clean, organized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and utensils.
• Ensure all prepared food meets quality, taste, and presentation standards.
• Follow FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles to minimize waste and maintain ingredient freshness.
• Maintain general cleanliness of the kitchen, including floors, counters, and equipment.
• Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, and pans using manual or machine methods.
• Empty trash bins, separate recyclables, and ensure proper disposal of kitchen waste.
• Receive and store incoming deliveries, ensuring items are properly stored and rotated.
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during peak hours.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• High School education required.
• 12 months of experience required.
• Knowledge of food preparation, basic cooking techniques, and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to follow quality, taste and presentation standards and FIFO stock rotation.
• Team collaboration and ability to work efficiently during peak hours.
