Job Details
KCB Bank Uganda is hiring a Credit Monitoring & Control Manager to maintain and improve the quality of the bank's credit portfolio. The role is based in Uganda (Kampala - Head Office) and reports within the Credit Risk function. Employment is Full Time. The manager is responsible for monitoring PAR (Pre 90 days delinquency), migration and asset book quality in line with Bank of Uganda regulations and the bank's credit policy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and control PAR (Pre 90 days delinquency) and migration of the bank's credit portfolio to maintain asset quality within acceptable levels
- Develop, recommend and implement strategies to upgrade watch category accounts to normal in line with Bank of Uganda regulations and credit policy
- Review and prepare reports on degenerating accounts for early alert warning purposes
- In collaboration with Consumer Banking, monitor scheme borrowers for missing monthly installments and compile reports per individual, branch and district to facilitate follow-ups with districts/employers
- Monitor covenants (offer letter terms) to ensure adherence and no defaults or violations
- Check expiring financial statements, valuations and insurance policies monthly and sensitize branches and relationship managers to submit renewals at least 2 months before expiry
- Carry out independent checks to ensure information captured in the system on loans disbursed is accurate and as per terms and conditions
- Generate early alert/watch accounts, arrange meetings and track closure of agreed actions with respective branches/relationship managers
- Provide timely support and guidance to the credit department to close compliance lapses identified by regulators, internal/external auditors and routine compliance assessments
- Provide leadership in branch portfolio supervision, field visits and snap checks to ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures
- Day-to-day running of portfolio monitoring reports and random call-over of past-day disbursements
- Review consumer banking loans per vote code and follow up with branches with missing installments
- Review status of expected payments and advise branches on accounts requiring funding
- Review accounts for early warning signs
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Risk, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management or relevant field
- Relevant practical training in Credit risk in the financial services sector
- Practical and sufficient knowledge of basic core banking system
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with at least 1 year in credit risk management domain
- Good understanding of credit risk management principles
- Numerical and analytical skills, report writing and planning skills
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing in a professional manner
- Takes clear accountability and focuses on delivery of departmental goals
- Team player with excellent customer experience and impeccable integrity
