Job Details

Kiwoko Hospital is a Private Not-for-Profit Organization under the Church of Uganda, located in Nakaseke District (Greater Luwero) and affiliated to the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB). The hospital is seeking to strengthen its staffing by recruiting Enrolled Midwives based in Luweero. This is a full-time position with 8 work hours per day. The role reports to the Ward In-charge and involves providing midwifery and nursing care as part of the caring team. Base salary is not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving patients and registering admissions, discharges, and deaths.
  • Participating in primary health care activities.
  • Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team.
  • Participating in Doctor/Clinical Officer's ward rounds.
  • Observing and compiling daily ward reports for the attention of the relevant authorities.
  • Managing and accounting for allocated resources.
  • Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the patients.
  • Ordering and receiving drugs from the pharmacy and administering drugs to patients.
  • Taking actions to improve performance and ensure success.
  • Preparing patients for operations.
  • Supervising junior staff.
  • Taking observations and laboratory specimen samples from patients.
  • Adhering to professional codes of conduct and ethics.
  • Teaching student nurses/midwives.
  • Preparing patients for referral.
  • Discharging any other duties assigned by the In-charge.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Certificate in Enrolled Midwifery or Nursing (Midwifery) from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with a valid practicing licence.
  • At least 1 year (12 months) of relevant clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of primary health care and bedside nursing procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and healthy environment and manage allocated resources.
  • Adherence to professional codes of conduct and ethics.
  • Ability to supervise junior staff and teach student nurses/midwives.
