Job Details
ABSA Bank Uganda is seeking an Enterprise Banker to drive and deliver business performance with both new and existing Business Banking customers to increase wallet share and make appropriate introductions to the Branch Manager where specialist advice is required. The role is Business Banking focused and includes sales, customer service, branch support and operational rigour. Location: Lira, Uganda (Business Banking). Employment Type: Full-time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide sales and service to Business Banking customers including contacting customers to open Enterprise banking accounts following recruitment policies and procedures
- Participate in specific product campaigns by explaining products to customers and agree, meet and exceed targets for specific sales campaigns
- Grow portfolio profitability by identifying new and existing customer potential including sales opportunities and new product promotion initiatives
- Determine products and solutions most effective in meeting customers' needs and sell reactively and proactively at short notice
- Proactively generate customer interest through face-to-face (in branch and client visits) or telephone contact including following up leads provided by colleagues
- Originate and initiate client credit applications to the commercial credit team in line with Absa Africa SME lending guidelines; demonstrate ownership of lending decisions and explore alternative solutions
- Conduct customer meetings with well-defined call objectives, desired outcomes and well-constructed plans; maintain own sales performance statistics for management information
- Build effective relationships with branch staff to ensure referrals to the Enterprise Banker when product or service needs are identified
- Complete account opening documentation with customers and submit to Branch Manager for review before operations processing; conduct financial analysis and statement review for loans and advise customers where minimum criteria not met, reporting denials to Branch Manager daily
- Own customer queries and complaints around account opening, loans and card applications and resolve in timely manner; escalate unresolved queries to Branch Manager; build relationships with internal service providers (Operations and KYC Helpdesk)
- Direct customers to appropriate delivery channels (cashiers, drop boxes, ATM etc.); advise customers when cheque books, cards and loan approvals are ready; follow up on uncollected items and encourage drawdowns
- Walk queues when branch is busy to resolve quick inquiries and direct customers; restock merchandising materials and advise Branch Manager if supplies run low
- Provide business advice to Personal Banking customers in absence of Personal Banker; open and close cashier tills, authorise cashier transactions above teller limits, act as cash custodian including checking cash levels, restocking and reordering cash
- Ensure accuracy of new account applications, loan documents, Absacard applications and mandate changes; achieve operational rigour excellence for green audit; follow Retail end-to-end account opening ensuring KYC compliance; comply with Absa operational risk, KYC and anti-money laundering regulations; conduct snap checks as allocated
- Understand and manage risks and risk events relevant to the role and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Trading, or any other related field preferred; postgraduate education or professional certifications in related field are an added advantage
- 2 years relevant and adequate experience gained in similar role and environment preferred
- Knowledge of Absa Africa SME lending guidelines, KYC and anti-money laundering regulations, and Retail end-to-end account opening procedures
- Strong sales, relationship management and customer service skills with ability to work in branch environment
