AsOne Ministries is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization investing in holistic development in rural, underserved communities across Uganda. The Farmer Training Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering practical, Christ-centered agricultural training to farmers in the Namayemba Community, Uganda. The role builds capacity in sustainable farming practices, agribusiness, and household food security, working closely with lead farmers, extension partners, and the wider AsOne agriculture team to ensure training translates into lasting improvements in livelihoods. This is a full-time position (8 hours) based in Namayemba Community, Uganda, reporting to the Agriculture Program Manager. Salary not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and deliver practical, hands-on training sessions for farmers on modern agronomic practices, crop and livestock management, soil health, and post-harvest handling
• Develop simple, easy-to-understand training curricula, manuals, and demonstration materials tailored to local farming context and literacy levels
• Identify, train, and mentor lead farmers and farmer groups to serve as local champions and peer trainers
• Establish and maintain demonstration gardens/plots to showcase best practices and new farming techniques
• Conduct farm visits and one-on-one coaching to reinforce training content and address individual farmer challenges
• Introduce and promote climate-smart, sustainable, and environmentally responsible farming practices
• Support farmers in basic agribusiness skills, including record-keeping, budgeting, value addition, and market linkages
• Integrate biblical principles of stewardship, diligence, and community into training content
• Organize farmer field days, exchange visits, and group learning events to encourage peer learning
• Connect the organization to agricultural input suppliers and advise farmers on new inputs like quality seeds and animal breeds
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions, farmer attendance, and topics covered
• Monitor and document farmers' adoption of practices and impact on yields, income, and food security
• Compile and submit regular training reports, statistics, and success stories to community managers
• Support planning and budgeting for training activities, demonstration plots, and farmer input needs
• Maintain inventory of training materials, tools, and demonstration plot supplies
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor/partner reporting requirements
• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with farmers, local leaders, extension officers, and partner organizations
• Work closely with Agriculture Program Manager, farm staff, and other AsOne departments to align training with broader program goals
• Collaborate with local government agricultural extension services, NGOs, and agribusiness partners
• Participate in team meetings, staff devotions, fellowships, and outreach initiatives

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in farmer training, agricultural extension, or community-based agriculture programs
• Solid understanding of sustainable farming practices, crop and/or livestock management, and rural livelihoods in the local context
• Demonstrated personal Christian faith and commitment to Christ-centered community development is an added advantage
• Patient, approachable, and encouraging with genuine passion for empowering farmers
• Strong facilitation, teaching, and communication skills able to simplify technical concepts for varied audiences
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Fair, respectful, and culturally sensitive in engaging farmers and community leaders
• Proficient in designing and delivering practical agricultural training and demonstrations
• Skilled in monitoring, data collection, and basic reporting on training outcomes
• Knowledgeable in climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness basics, and post-harvest handling
• Basic computer literacy for reporting and record management
• Capable of building trust and long-term relationships with farmers and community stakeholders
