Job Details

Finance Associate supporting the Uganda program with financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting to inform decision-making. Also collaborates with the Grants Finance team overseeing financial aspects of Uganda-focused grants including budgeting, reporting, compliance and stakeholder engagement. Location: Jinja, Kampala, Uganda. Contract Duration: 2 years (renewable to permanent based on performance). Benefits include health insurance, housing and comprehensive benefits. Eligibility open only to citizens or permanent residents of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. Preferred start date as soon as possible. Full-time.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous update of 5-year rolling forecasts and financial models; ensure alignment on financial, operational and impact assumptions between Country Director and Global Finance
• Act as primary financial advisor for all strategic initiatives, providing rigorous recommendations backed by sensitivity analyses
• Direct monthly financial reporting and Budget vs. Actual (BVA) processes in collaboration with department heads; provide senior leadership with targeted analysis and performance updates
• Direct lifecycle of grants by ensuring compliance with donor requirements, overseeing accurate reporting, and continuously enhancing tracking systems and databases for efficiency
• Lead development of donor budget reports and forecasts, monitoring grant spending against budgets to ensure fiscal alignment
• Manage comprehensive fund flow models to guarantee operational liquidity for restricted activities, while acting as strategic liaison between Finance, Field, and Fundraising teams
• Lead preparation and timely filing of all Uganda-specific tax returns and statutory obligations in strict alignment with local regulatory frameworks
• Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external audits, ensuring seamless reviews through meticulous data organization and documentation
• Strengthen financial integrity by proactively identifying control weaknesses and risk exposures; partner with leadership to drive process improvements and implement robust governance frameworks

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, underpinned by rigorous command of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting standards
• Over 4 years of progressive experience in finance, consulting, or strategic advisory
• Full professional qualification in ACCA or CPA (U)
• Experience managing multi-currency grants from major donors
• Fluency in Power BI and Google Sheets with intermediate Microsoft Excel modeling capabilities; proven ability to architect complex financial models and leverage data visualization to drive executive-level decision-making
