The First Officer (Co-Pilot) B737 works hand in hand with the Line Captain to ensure the safety, security and proper conduct of flights at Uganda Airlines. The role is based in Entebbe and deputizes the Captain (Pilot-in-Command). The First Officer assumes the role of Pilot-in-Command when directed by the PIC, or automatically assumes the PIC's authority and responsibility for the aircraft, crew, passengers and cargo if the PIC becomes incapacitated. Employment Type: Full Time. Duty Station: Entebbe. Work Hours: 8.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deputize the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and assume the role and authority of PIC when directed or if the PIC becomes incapacitated.
  • Participate in the preparation of the flight and attentively monitor its progress to be able to assume authority/responsibility at any given time.
  • Co-operate as a responsible member of the aircraft crew and perform routine work assigned or delegated by the PIC.
  • Ensure safety, security and proper conduct of flights in accordance with company and regulatory procedures.
  • Support safety and operational compliance, monitoring and reporting as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Hold a valid Commercial Pilot License with multi-engine rating and Instrument Rating.
  • Hold a valid Medical Class 1.
  • 3000 hours Total Time of which 1000 hours minimum are on B737NG/MAX.
  • Last flown the B737NG/MAX within the past 6 months from the date of application.
  • No Accident or Incident record and no criminal record.
  • English language proficiency level 4 minimum.
  • Airline passenger handling training.
  • Good report writing, judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Customer focused, hospitable, cool, pleasant and approachable personality with high integrity and influencing skills.
  • Well groomed, attention to detail and quality, team player with ability to lead, guide and motivate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, cross-culture sensitivity and respect.
  • Confident, decisive, proactive, creative and innovative, self-driven.
  • Ability to work well for long hours under pressure including shift work pattern.
  • Individual assessment for satisfactory ability will be carried out as part of the interview process.
