AsOne Ministries is a Christ-centered nonprofit committed to making disciples and creating sustainable solutions in education, enterprise, health and agriculture in rural, underserved communities across Uganda. The Geography/Entrepreneurship Teacher is based in Luuka / Serere Community, Uganda (Serere) and works closely with the Director of Studies, fellow subject teachers and AsOne leadership. This is a full-time role (8 work hours) responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Geography and Entrepreneurship Education to secondary students (O-Level and/or A-Level) in line with the national curriculum and UNEB syllabus. Salary is not disclosed. The role combines spatial and environmental understanding with business, financial literacy and enterprise skills for academic advancement and sustainable livelihoods within a Christ-centered learning environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver Geography and Entrepreneurship Education lessons in line with national secondary curriculum and UNEB syllabus requirements
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment schedules for all assigned classes (O-Level and/or A-Level)
• Deliver clear, engaging lessons that build understanding of physical and human geography, map work, environmental processes, and core business, financial literacy and enterprise concepts
• Use varied methods including fieldwork, map reading, case studies, business simulations and practical enterprise projects
• Set, administer and mark class tests, assignments and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback
• Track learner performance and progress, identifying gaps and providing remedial support
• Prepare students for national examinations (UCE/UACE) and internal assessments, ensuring full syllabus coverage
• Guide students in map reading, interpretation of statistics, graphs and geographical data, and preparation of business plans and enterprise proposals
• Integrate cross-cutting issues such as environmental conservation, climate change awareness, financial literacy and entrepreneurial mindset development in line with MoES guidelines
• Organize and supervise geographical fieldwork, site visits and environmental studies relevant to local community and syllabus
• Guide students in safe and correct use of geographical tools and instruments (maps, compasses, rain gauges, GPS where available)
• Plan and supervise practical entrepreneurship activities including small enterprise/business projects, school clubs or income-generating student initiatives
• Coordinate with administration on procurement of maps, charts and materials for practical geography and enterprise activities
• Organize demonstrations, business fairs, exhibitions or STEM/enterprise-related activities that reinforce classroom learning with real-world application
• Mentor students interested in geography, environmental science, business and enterprise-related career paths including further studies and vocational/technical training
• Encourage participation in geography clubs, entrepreneurship/business clubs, competitions, quizzes and academic exhibitions
• Provide guidance and extra tuition to students struggling with Geography or Entrepreneurship concepts
• Support students in developing practical income-generating and self-reliance skills that align with AsOne's focus on sustainable community development
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance and continuous assessment
• Contribute to budgeting and procurement for textbooks, maps, atlases, business resource materials and teaching aids
• Ensure proper care, maintenance and stock control of geographical instruments, business project materials, textbooks and instructional resources
• Maintain an organized bank of past papers, case studies and revision aids
• Work collaboratively with Director of Studies and fellow teachers, participate in departmental meetings, staff briefings and school-wide events
• Collaborate on co-curricular activities related to agriculture, enterprise development and environmental stewardship; engage parents and local community and link students to local business mentors where possible
• Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Education with Geography and Entrepreneurship Education as teaching subjects, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience at secondary school level, preferably teaching Geography and/or Entrepreneurship Education
• Sound knowledge of national secondary Geography and Entrepreneurship curriculum, UNEB syllabus and Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines
• Practical experience in fieldwork supervision, map work instruction and guiding student business/enterprise projects
• Registered/licensed with relevant Ugandan teaching body where applicable (e.g., valid Teaching Practice Certificate/registration with MoES)
• Demonstrated personal Christian faith and commitment to Christ-centered education
• Passionate about teaching and mentoring young people in geography and enterprise skills; resourceful and enterprising mindset
• Patient, clear and skilled at breaking down complex geographical or business concepts
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, balancing lesson planning, marking and fieldwork/practical sessions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
• High level of integrity, responsibility and accountability for school resources; collaborative team player
• Strong command of Geography and Entrepreneurship subject content across secondary curriculum
• Skilled in fieldwork organization, map/statistical interpretation and practical business/enterprise project supervision
• Competent in lesson planning, assessment design and academic record-keeping
• Basic proficiency in using technology and instructional aids; capable of guiding students through basic business planning, budgeting and small enterprise management concepts
