Role
The Grant Accountant provides financial support including processing of payments, posting accounting entries for the business and specific grants, preparing financial information for monthly reporting packs and donor reports, preparation of tax returns and performing of reconciliations. Supports the preparation of financial proposals for grants and monitors grant expenditure to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
Key Duties
- Prepare and post journal entries for revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of income and expenditure for grants and all general ledger accounts
- Maintain project fixed asset registers with accurate capitalization
- Manage settlement of vendor invoices and staff claims following approvals
- Monitor project performance against approved budgets and communicate corrective actions
- Prepare and circulate monthly finance reports with accompanying commentary
- Maintain proper records and file all tax returns and payments for compliance
- Prepare donor reports detailing income and expenditure analysis
- Provide finance and tax advisory support and complete ad hoc requests
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Finance and Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within a Not-For-Profit Environment
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles and donor financial regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with financial systems and Microsoft Excel
