Head of Finance & Business Control

Job Details

The Head of Finance & Business Control is responsible for ensuring financial discipline, cost control, governance integrity and institutional sustainability across Beyond Logistics Limited (BLL). The role is a key driver of the Single Big Objective (SBO): Use our resources better every day to improve reliability, cut unit cost per CBM, and grow margin-positive revenue. The role controls, validates and reports financial performance, challenges cost and margin assumptions and enforces financial discipline without owning revenue generation or operations. Reports to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Own full financial reporting, budgeting and cash flow management
• Develop and maintain cost per CBM model and ensure regular tracking and drive cost discipline across all departments
• Ensure accurate and timely billing, revenue recognition and reconciliation and monitor working capital (receivables, payables, cash cycles)
• Validate pricing for all major deals to ensure margin integrity and provide client-level profitability analysis
• Support Head of Commercial in pricing decisions, cost-to-serve modelling and contract financial evaluation and ensure no loss-making contracts without clear approval
• Lead tax planning strategy to optimise BLL's tax position and ensure full compliance with VAT, PAYE, WHT, NSSF and other statutory obligations
• Manage tax audits and regulatory interactions and work with external advisors where required
• Oversee contracts and legal documents, land titles, leases and key corporate records ensuring they are up to date, version controlled and reflect latest BOD/management decisions
• Maintain oversight of legal risks and coordinate with external lawyers and maintain BOD and strategic governance documentation
• Oversee HR coordination and PeopleHum system management, ensuring staff records accuracy, payroll integrity and confidentiality and performance management alignment
• Own oversight of ERP system (Dynamics 365 Business Central), PeopleHum HR system and other ICT infrastructure as contract/SLA manager ensuring system reliability, user issue resolution and data integrity
• Ensure all procurement follows budget approval and financial control processes and oversee Purchase Order creation and control through ERP
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reports, support quarterly and annual audits and ensure audit readiness with zero major audit issues
• Provide financial insights to MD and BOD for decision-making

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance, Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option) or relevant field
• Professional qualification CPA/ACCA required
• 5+ years experience in finance leadership role preferred
• Experience in logistics, 3PL or asset-heavy environments is an advantage
• Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar)
• Strong financial control, governance, cost management and commercial analysis skills
