Hospital Security Assistant

Job Details

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda is seeking a Hospital Security Assistant to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, caretakers and employees by patrolling and monitoring hospital premises. This is a part-time fixed-term renewable position based at CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda in Mbale. Work Hours: 8.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Record entry and exit of hospital vehicles, visitors, patients and employees during work hours
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, and restraining trespassers
• Screen persons and baggage for unauthorized items and direct patients, relatives and visitors to reception, outpatients, diagnostic center and wards
• Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses and obtaining signatures
• Control traffic by directing drivers and opening gates for incoming and outgoing traffic
• Observe good customer care when dealing with people and answer telephone calls promptly
• Obtain help by sounding alarms and secure premises by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment and access points
• Watch and monitor hospital grounds and property
• Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls and comply with legal requirements
• Ensure operation of security equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs
• Participate in spiritual ministry programs, chapel and departmental bible studies
• Follow and comply with occupational health and safety policies and use personal protective equipment as required
• Attend department and general co-workers' meetings as scheduled

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Education level between S1-S6; Completed certificate in Security training from a reputable school/security firm is an added advantage
• Must have work experience in security of at least 1 to 3 years
• Must have no criminal record
• Must possess basic knowledge about firefighting and communication devices
• Must be able to think clearly during emergency and urgent situations
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential documents appropriately
• Ability to read, write and speak English and one other language
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and work both night and day shifts
• Must be in good physical and mental state and safety-conscious
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is an advantage
