Human Resources Officer

Job Details

The Human Resources Officer manages all HR functions to support the workforce at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital in Mbarara, Uganda. This is a full-time position. Working hours are 8 hours per day. Salary is not disclosed. Duty station is Uganda (Mbarara City).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including contracts, attendance, leave, and performance data.
• Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures in line with labor laws and organizational standards.
• Assist in payroll preparation by collating timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant data.
• Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution, fostering a positive work environment.
• Coordinate staff training programs, induction, and continuous professional development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Support the performance appraisal process and provide guidance to managers on staff evaluations.
• Manage exit processes, including clearances, final dues calculations, and exit interviews.
• Promote employee well-being and engagement through wellness programs and staff activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant HR experience.
• Knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, and HR policy implementation.
• Familiarity with Uganda labor laws, payroll support, and compliance requirements.
• Skills in performance management, training coordination, and staff welfare.
