Impact Investment Fellow – WASH
Job Details
Relevant mobilises capital to address market blind spots through innovative financing and venture-building. In Uganda it runs a patient-capital loan facility for social enterprises in displacement-affected communities and is now expanding into the WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) sector. The Impact Investment Fellow will help design, set up and roll out the new WASH loan facility. This is a 6-month fellowship based in Kampala with hybrid work options at the Innovation District in Kampala, reporting to the Project Manager. The role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to build professional experience, with opportunity to grow into a permanent role. Benefits include lunch at the office, internet allowance and transport allowance. Work mode is hybrid, collaboration with a global team based in East Africa and Europe. Work Hours: 8. Employment is full-time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the design and set-up of a new loan facility in the WASH sector.
- Support the Project Manager with day-to-day tasks, including reporting, enterprise sourcing, investment readiness, due diligence and contracting.
- Support the monitoring of the entire portfolio's financial performance.
- Contribute to all required technical and administrative tasks to ensure the loan facility's operational success.
- Support the programs team in any other area needed, such as organising events and supporting overall growth and progress of relevant projects.
- Adapt to changing roles over time to reflect the dynamic environment in which Relevant operates.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- High motivation and willingness to learn, with genuine curiosity about the WASH sector and small business finance.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial attitude with high level of independence and ownership.
- Draws energy from solving problems rather than being told the answer.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Desirable: Experience in the WASH sector, or strong interest in it.
- Desirable: Exposure to financial analysis, modelling, project management, or business development support.
