Job Details
Spidd Africa is seeking an IT Project Manager based in Kampala, Uganda, reporting to the General Manager within the Projects Department. The role is responsible for managing the delivery of IT projects within agreed time and budget constraints, working with various departments as well as clients, OEMs and third parties to determine and manage effective solutions for IT Service Delivery projects. Employment Type: Full Time. Closing Date: Sep 12, 2026.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Run projects on a day-to-day basis and coordinate communication between staff, OEMs, clients and third parties acting on behalf of the client.
- Secure project approval (Project Charter) before a project kicks off; prepare project budget and secure approval; ensure statement of work is signed before commencement.
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements to accomplish goals within time, cost and quality constraints.
- Schedule tasks, deadlines, and milestones for all stakeholders and resources; identify schedule uncertainties and risks for both client and SPIDD and develop contingency plans.
- Prepare a comprehensive project management plan and efficiently manage problems, scope-creep, changed requirements and missed deadlines, bringing projects back on plan or creating new plans with key stakeholders through change management.
- Intimately understand project requirements and ensure work proceeds on spec; conduct project performance evaluation and ensure quality assurance for all projects.
- Submit weekly status reports on projects including schedule and budgets, risks and issues and billing status.
- Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and other developments.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or Business Management.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification required.
- At least 3 years of experience in managing projects in the IT sector; experience in managing IT projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Team management and leadership skills; documentation management and ability to use project management tools such as MS Projects, Trello, Jira.
- Attention to detail under pressure; time management skills with ability to meet deadlines; financial planning and cost management skills.
- Understanding of IT and relevant standards.
