The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is hiring a Laboratory Technician (Job Code: LTK001) for the EXPrESSIVE-10 trial — a Phase 3 clinical study assessing the safety and efficacy of MK-8527, an investigational once-monthly oral PrEP medication for adolescent girls and young women. The trial is implemented at five sites in Uganda: Entebbe, Kalangala, Kampala, Masaka and Mityana.

The successful candidate will be based in Kalangala and will support high-quality laboratory operations for the trial in line with Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and study-specific protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing sample collection from study participants
- Processing and preparing laboratory samples for shipment according to study-specific protocols
- Maintaining good laboratory documentation practices according to Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP)
- Freezer sample storage and retrieval according to study-specific protocols
- Laboratory results preparation and management
- Laboratory equipment monitoring and maintenance
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- A minimum of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (required)
- Experience working in research
- Experience with shipping of samples
- Experience with performing quality assurance testing
- Knowledge of GCLP, sample handling, cold chain and laboratory documentation is an added advantage
- Ability to work in Kalangala and follow study-specific SOPs accurately
