Laboratory Technician

Job Details

St. Mary's Hospital Lacor, a private, non-profit hospital located in Gulu City, Uganda, is seeking a qualified and self-motivated Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician will carry out routine laboratory procedures, support diagnostic services, and ensure the accurate handling of specimens and laboratory equipment. This is a full-time position based at Gulu City, Gulu.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive, label, and process laboratory specimens.
• Conduct routine laboratory tests in accordance with standard procedures.
• Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Record, verify, and report laboratory results accurately.
• Observe infection prevention, safety, and quality-assurance procedures.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and support inventory management.
• Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of laboratory records.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Must be duly registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a recognized laboratory or health facility.
• Basic laboratory testing and specimen-handling skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
