About Uganda Heart Institute
Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) is established by the Uganda Heart Institute Act CAP 258 as an Autonomous Government Entity to undertake and coordinate the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in Uganda. UHI is the sole National Referral Facility for heart diseases in Uganda, providing comprehensive preventive, promotive and clinical cardiovascular services, as well as conducting cutting-edge research and training in cardiovascular science. UHI intends to recruit competent people in various departments to enhance its human resource capacity and support the effective delivery of specialised cardiovascular services.

Post: Laundry Officer
Salary Scale: UHI 4 LWR
Number of Posts: One (1)
Reports to: Manager – Administration
Directly Supervises: House Keeper (Laundry)
Work Hours: 8 hours
Job Purpose
To coordinate the laundry services at the Institute.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise general flow of activities in laundry.
- Plan laundry activities in line with hospital objectives.
- Take part in the procurement of laundry consumables.
- Ensure laundry consumables are available all the time.
- Ensure enough linen is always available ready to be used.
- Guide and train laundry staff on better laundry practices.
- Maintain laundry registers (Dispatch, Machine maintenance and Consumables records).
- Ensure proper discipline among laundry staff.
Person Specifications
- Bachelor's degree in any of humanities.
- Certificate in laundry practice or infection control practice.
- Experience in a hospital setting will be an added advantage.
