Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is hiring a Locum Data Officer to be based at the Mulago ISS Clinic in Kampala under the Kampala Region HIV Mechanism sub-award from Reach Out Mbuya funded by PEPFAR. This is a full-time position responsible for database management, data entry and reporting for MJAP activities in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines. The role involves generating weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and ensuring data security across program databases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine suitable database and analysis software and enter data to generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for MJAP activities in accordance with MOH guidelines and procedures
  • Receive and review raw data on different program activities on a daily basis
  • Enter data into appropriate program databases including Uganda EMR and prevention tracker on a daily basis according to approved format
  • Compile Program and Ministry of Health reports and submit in different reporting systems including DHIS2 and Prevention tracker
  • Back up data and ensure security of different databases used for data entry on a daily basis in line with data security procedures
  • Provide ongoing support to data collectors and health workers in proper data collection and documentation procedures
  • Conduct simple analysis on MJAP activities and document brief reports on weekly and monthly basis to inform development of quarterly reports for various stakeholders
  • Create data cleaning queries to free data from anomalies according to data analysis procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Information Management Systems, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in data management in PEPFAR funded projects or organizations
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, assess priorities, and manage multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills demonstrated by ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, stakeholders, clients and consultants
