As a Lower Primary Teacher – English / SST at Namutumba Community, Uganda, you will teach English and Social Studies (SST) to P1, P2, P3, and P4 classes, nurturing well-rounded, spiritually rooted, and academically prepared students while upholding the professional code of conduct for educators. This is a Full Time position (8 hours) with deadline Friday, September 11, 2026. Salary not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver English and SST lesson plans for P1–P4 aligned with national and school curricula.
  • Teach engaging, inclusive, and Christ-centered English and SST lessons appropriate to the developmental stage of lower primary learners.
  • Build foundational literacy skills — reading, writing, speaking, and listening — across P1 to P4.
  • Introduce and reinforce basic Social Studies concepts, including community, environment, and citizenship, suited to lower primary learners.
  • Provide remedial support where needed, following the school timetable.
  • Assess and evaluate student learning through a range of age-appropriate formative and summative tools.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of young learners.
  • Maintain a positive, nurturing, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment suited to young learners.
  • Provide age-appropriate guidance and counseling and maintain discipline while promoting mutual respect and spiritual growth.
  • Uphold Christian values and integrate Biblical principles into classroom discussions.
  • Maintain accurate class records, including attendance, inventory, assessments, and progress reports.
  • Participate in internal examinations: setting, administering, and marking.
  • Engage with parents and guardians through regular communications and meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance school-wide programs and participate in devotions, fellowships, and outreach programs.
  • Reflect on teaching practices, attend staff development sessions, and stay current with educational research and teaching methodologies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or administration.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Primary Education from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in primary education, with proven ability and hands-on experience teaching P1, P2, P3, and P4 classes.
  • Solid understanding of the English and Social Studies (SST) subject matter, curriculum, and age-appropriate teaching strategies for lower primary learners.
  • Proficient in lesson planning, classroom delivery, and student assessment.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement techniques.
  • Ability to integrate technology in teaching and learning.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records and reporting student progress.
  • Capable of creating a safe and nurturing environment for young learners' academic and spiritual growth.
