Job Details
Medipal International Hospital in Kampala is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for building and facility maintenance. The role ensures safe, functional and well-maintained hospital premises including electrical, plumbing and general building maintenance, preventive maintenance and emergency repairs. The technician reports within the facilities/maintenance function and works with minimum supervision. Employment is Full Time. Location is Kampala. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform electrical, plumbing and general building maintenance and diagnose faults and undertake minor repairs independently.
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities and ensure workplace health and safety compliance.
- Prioritize urgent maintenance requests, maintain high reliability and accountability, and respond to emergency maintenance needs when required.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for maintenance activities.
- Work with minimum supervision and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Ensure facilities are safe and functional for a large healthcare institution environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Construction or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in building/facility maintenance; previous maintenance experience in a hospital, hotel, commercial building or other large institution is an added advantage.
- Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general building maintenance and ability to diagnose faults and undertake minor repairs independently.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills and good understanding of preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritize urgent requests and good communication and teamwork skills.
- High level of integrity, reliability and accountability and good record-keeping skills.
- Willingness to respond to emergency maintenance needs when required.
