Job Details

The Manager SME will report to the Deputy Head of Business and will be based at the Head Office. The role is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of the SME Segment growth strategy for Pride in line with the business plan, and for achievement of set targets including growth of SME loans and deposit portfolios and ensuring performance of all product lines in the segment. Employment type is Full Time and duty station is Head Office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the overall growth and profitability of SME/Business Banking.
  • Drive the growth of loans, deposits and other value-added services with a focus on new acquisitions and deepening of existing customer relationships to achieve set targets.
  • Collaborate and coordinate the development of the SME budget and targets (volume and quality targets) in line with the business plan and ensure timely communication and dissemination of the targets to the teams and other users.
  • Collaborate and coordinate the development and implementation of sales initiatives with the Distribution Manager and the business teams to maximize cross-selling opportunities, digitisation and new acquisitions.
  • Monitor the performance of the SME portfolio against set targets including monitoring of portfolio quality and daily sales pipelines for direct reports and regularly update management in line with agreed reporting schedule.
  • Initiate and collaborate with functional teams to identify and develop product solutions and bundles to meet the needs of SME banking customers.
  • Liaison with credit and operations to ensure that policies, procedures and standards for customer service are robust and balanced for risk and SME Business growth.
  • Define and manage customer retention strategies including reactive retention and proactive retention programs.
  • Lead the SME unit, ensuring its full integration with other units of the bank especially to identify and implement cross-strengthening activities regarding SME banking.
  • Manage the performance and development of staff within the SME Business unit, ensuring that any performance gaps are timely identified and appropriate interventions are made.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce or other related fields.
  • 6 years' experience in Banking with 3 years in a business relationship management role at supervisory level.
  • Must be result driven, critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong background in handling trade finance transactions and using this experience to deepen customer relationships.
  • Good understanding of Branch Banking systems, processes and business.
  • Excellent networking skills, with the ability to build rapport and consultatively engage with employees, managers etc.
  • Ability to think out of the box and drive change and innovation.
  • Takes clear accountability and focuses on delivery of broader corporate goals.
