Marketing Associate, Acquisition

Numida is hiring a Marketing Associate, Acquisition to own retention and lifecycle marketing across its three East African markets. The role is full-time covering Western and Eastern Regions – Uganda with work across all three markets. Around 70% of time is dedicated to retention and lifecycle marketing and 30% to wider marketing priorities including acquisition campaigns, product launches, market launches and research. The associate reports to the Head of Marketing and Sales and works in partnership with product, data and country teams. Programs are built and tested in one market before scaling with evidence. Work is reviewed weekly against control, monthly for go/stop decisions, and quarterly for cross-market rollout. This is a generalist role in a small team covering three markets at different stages.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Segment the client base (active, dormant, churned, at-risk, high value) and establish baseline figures for repeat behaviour, dormancy and reactivation
- Build and run reactivation programmes for dormant and churned clients
- Develop repeat journeys to help first-time borrowers take a second and third loan
- Create adoption messaging for savings, multi-term loans and other products launched to the existing base
- Build loyalty communities as retention infrastructure, including NumiQueens invite-only community for high-performing female clients
- Own lifecycle messaging across SMS, WhatsApp and in-app channels with short, plain, human copy
- Implement measurement with control groups wherever possible and maintain a regular cohort view for the team
- Provide weekly read on live programme performance against control, monthly review of new and existing tests, and quarterly recommendation on what travels to other markets with evidence
- Maintain a working playbook, vendor and partner list with rates and contacts, and records of campaigns and outcomes
- Support wider marketing priorities including acquisition campaigns, product launches, market launches, events and research as needed
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Around 3 to 5 years in marketing with real exposure to CRM, lifecycle or retention work from lending, telco, insurance, ecommerce or similar field
- Ability to pull own data or appetite to learn quickly; experience with SQL, Redash or similar querying is an advantage
- Strong grasp of testing including control groups, sample sizes and honest evaluation of flat results
- Clear, short, human copywriting in English
- Comfortable being pulled into acquisition, launch or event work in a small team
- Comfort building something before results arrive and owning work end-to-end
- Broad, collaborative mindset with ability to work across product, data and marketing teams
- Luganda, Swahili or Kinyarwanda language skills is an advantage
- Experience working across more than one market or country is an advantage
- Bachelor's degree required
