Job Details

Horizon International School Jinja is seeking Mathematics Assistant Teachers (2 Positions) for its campus in Jinja, Uganda. This is a full-time role (8 work hours per day) based at Jinja duty station. The position involves supporting Mathematics instruction in accordance with the approved curriculum. Base salary is not disclosed. Deadline for application is Friday, August 14, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum, using a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, orderly, and safe learning environment conducive to effective teaching and learning.
  • Set, administer, and mark tests, assignments, and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and progress.
  • Implement the national or school curriculum effectively, ensuring all learning objectives are met.
  • Identify and support students with learning difficulties or special needs, providing remedial instruction where necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to students on personal, social, and academic matters.
  • Participate in continuous professional development, including staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Participate in and support extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs, and school events.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including department heads and school administration, to enhance the quality of education.
  • Utilize teaching aids, materials, and resources effectively to enhance learning experiences.
  • Enforce school rules and maintain discipline in the classroom and school environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, adhering to school safety policies.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Fresh graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Level of Education: Bachelor degree.
  • Minimum experience of 12 months.
  • Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment skills.
  • Ability to implement curriculum effectively and support diverse learners.
