Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) is established by the Uganda Heart Institute Act CAP 258 as an Autonomous Government Entity to undertake and coordinate the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in Uganda. UHI offers a comprehensive range of preventive, promotive, and clinical cardiovascular services as well as conducts cutting-edge research and training in cardiovascular science. Our vision is to be a global center of excellence in cardiovascular services.

Job Details

Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) intends to recruit competent people in various departments, to enhance its human resource capacity and support the effective delivery of specialised cardiovascular services.

• Post: Medical Officer
• Salary Scale: UHI 4 MED-1
• Number of Posts: Five (5)
• Reports to: Associate Consultant – Adult Cardiology
• Job Purpose: To participate in the management of adult cardiovascular patients.
• Work Hours: 8
• Duty Station: Kampala
• Employment Type: Full-time

The Medical Officers who will be appointed shall undergo fellowship program for specialisation in Cardiology during their time of service in UHI.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive, clerk, admit and discharge patients.
• Develop patient treatment plans.
• Collect data for research.
• Initiate and carryout investigations.
• Update patient records.
• Guiding patients and caregivers on treatment plans.
• Participate in ward rounds and in the specialty area.
• Supervision of medical interns and trainees.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• MB.Ch.B from a recognized University or Institution.
• Master of Science (MSc) in Medicine (Internal Medicine) or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
• Should be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
• Must possess a valid practicing license.
