MOJA-VAW Project Coordinator responsible for coordinating implementation of the Mobilizing Organizations for Justice and Action (MOJA) to End Violence against Women Programme across Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda, ensuring activities are delivered effectively, on time, within budget and in compliance with donor and organizational requirements. Reports to Regional Programme Director and serves as central operational focal point, working with Country teams, implementing partners, Grants, Finance, MEL and Communications. Hybrid role based at Regional Office, Kampala with travel across SIHA countries. Full-time. Salary not disclosed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation across six countries per approved work plans, budgets, timelines and donor commitments; work with Country Coordinators, Project Officers and partners to monitor progress, address operational challenges and support adaptive planning
- Coordinate programme governance: implementation planning meetings, technical coordination meetings, annual reviews and cross-country planning sessions
- Coordinate integration of programme components — grants, accompaniment, capacity strengthening, service delivery, advocacy, movement building and learning
- Coordinate feminist accompaniment model with women's rights organizations, women-led organizations, WHRDs and ecosystem actors throughout programme cycle
- Coordinate and oversee institutional strengthening and accompaniment support, ensuring technical assistance, peer learning and organizational development respond to partner needs and build long-term resilience
- Support ecosystem-building initiatives including learning exchanges, dialogues, coalition-building and advocacy strengthening collaboration among feminist actors
- Coordinate annual, quarterly and monthly implementation planning and maintain work plans, trackers, risk registers and performance dashboards; monitor progress against indicators, milestones and budgets with MEL team
- Promote adaptive management via reflection sessions, reviewing evidence and supporting programme adjustments
- Coordinate grant portfolio implementation with Regional Grants Manager, Finance and Country Coordinators; monitor partner progress, reporting schedules, budget utilization and compliance
- Coordinate preparation of donor narrative reports, annual work plans and contractual deliverables by consolidating inputs from teams and partners; ensure timely high-quality reporting and monitor compliance with budgets, procurement, safeguarding and visibility requirements
- Monitor expenditure, burn rates and forecasts with Finance
- Promote quality assurance via consistent application of SIHA programme management standards; coordinate documentation of innovations, lessons learned, case studies and knowledge products
- Facilitate internal learning events, cross-country exchanges and knowledge-sharing processes
- Represent SIHA and the MOJA Programme in coordination meetings, technical working groups, donor meetings and regional platforms as delegated
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Master's degree in Development Studies, International Development, Project Management, Gender Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline
- Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, including at least 3-5 years coordinating complex, multi-country donor-funded programs; experience with women's rights organizations, feminist movements, CSOs or international development organizations required; experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and supervising multidisciplinary teams essential
- Demonstrated knowledge of programme cycle management, results-based management, MEL, grants management, budget monitoring, donor compliance, safeguarding and organizational learning; knowledge of gender equality, Women, Peace and Security, humanitarian and development programming in Greater Horn of Africa highly desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of feminist programming, organizational accompaniment, ecosystem strengthening and locally led development highly desirable
- Excellent programme coordination, planning, organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Strong facilitation, problem-solving, report writing, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with programme management and collaboration platforms is an advantage
