Advocate for Community Development and Environmental Protection (ACODEP) is recruiting for an upcoming multi-sectoral initiative focused on women’s participation in environmental peacebuilding, climate action, GBV/SGBV prevention, human rights protection, and environmental justice.

The NRM Coordinator will coordinate activities promoting sustainable management and protection of natural resources while supporting climate action, environmental peacebuilding, and community participation. This is a 1-Year Renewable Contract position based in Kampala (Kampala). Work Hours: 8 hours. Salary: Not Disclosed. Reporting to programme leadership, the coordinator will work with communities and local authorities to address environmental challenges.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community-based natural-resource management activities.
  • Support sustainable land, water, forest, and other natural-resource practices.
  • Facilitate community awareness on environmental protection and climate change.
  • Support environmental peacebuilding initiatives where natural-resource conflicts arise.
  • Work with communities and local authorities to address environmental challenges.
  • Support climate adaptation and resilience activities.
  • Coordinate environmental assessments and community consultations where required.
  • Support development and implementation of NRM action plans.
  • Document environmental challenges, lessons, and good practices.
  • Monitor programme activities and prepare progress reports.
  • Promote women's participation in natural-resource management and environmental decision-making.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in community-based natural-resource management is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of climate change, environmental protection, and community development.
  • Strong field coordination and community engagement skills.
  • Minimum experience of 12 months in a related field.
