Job Details
KURA Asset Managers is seeking an Operations Officer based in Kampala, Uganda. This is a full-time position responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operational activities to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant delivery of investment management services. The role supports operational excellence through administration of investment transactions, client onboarding, records management, regulatory compliance support, process improvement, and coordination across all business functions. Work Hours: 8 hours. Base Salary: Not Disclosed. Reports to Management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operational activities across the business and ensure operational processes are implemented efficiently and consistently
- Maintain operational procedures and process documentation, monitor workflow and recommend process improvements
- Support implementation of new operational initiatives and systems
- Coordinate Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes, verify client documentation before account activation, and ensure timely processing of account opening requests
- Maintain complete and accurate client records and coordinate periodic client information updates
- Support execution and settlement of investment transactions and maintain accurate investment transaction records
- Coordinate preparation of investment reports and reconcile investment records with custodians, brokers, and banks
- Monitor transaction processing timelines
- Assist in the administration of managed funds and investment portfolios, maintain fund documentation and operational records, and coordinate reporting requirements relating to investment portfolios
- Ensure operational compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements and support implementation of internal controls
- Report operational risks and control weaknesses and assist during regulatory inspections and audits
- Maintain secure physical and electronic records and ensure proper filing of contracts, investment documents, client records, and operational reports
- Support document retention in accordance with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality of company and client information
- Prepare periodic operational reports, maintain operational performance statistics, track service delivery performance, and report operational incidents
- Liaise with custodians, banks, brokers, auditors, regulators, and other service providers and monitor service delivery by outsourced providers
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and participate in automation and digitization initiatives
- Coordinate office operational activities, support procurement of operational requirements, and perform any other duties assigned by Management
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in operations within an asset management company, investment firm, bank, pension fund or other regulated financial institution
- Experience in operations or financial services
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
