Pharmacy Assistant

Job Details

St. Mary's Hospital Lacor, a private, non-profit hospital located in Gulu City, Uganda, is seeking qualified and self-motivated Pharmacy Assistants. The Pharmacy Assistant will support the pharmacy unit in the preparation, dispensing, storage, and management of medicines and medical supplies in accordance with established standards and procedures. This is a full-time position based at Gulu City, Gulu, with 2 vacancies available.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving, storing, and issuing medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.
• Support the dispensing of prescribed medicines under supervision.
• Maintain accurate stock records and update pharmacy registers.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages, expired medicines, and discrepancies.
• Ensure cleanliness, order, and proper arrangement of pharmacy supplies.
• Provide basic guidance to clients on the use of medicines as directed.
• Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and professional standards.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Certificate in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Must be duly registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
• At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a health facility or pharmacy setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Basic record-keeping and dispensing skills.
