CoRSU Hospital (Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disability in Uganda), established in 2006 as a private non-profit NGO providing orthopaedic, plastic and reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation mainly for children and adults with disability, is seeking a Plumber. This is a full-time position reporting to the Estates Officer in the Estates Department, based at CoRSU Hospital, Kawuku, Entebbe Road, Kisubi. The objective is to handle all plumbing installations, fixations, repairs, monitoring of water usage and sewage disposal, and related tasks in the hospital.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair plumbing systems in the hospital.
  • Install, repair and maintain/service the water treatment equipment and system.
  • Install, repair and maintain underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems.
  • Install, repair and maintain water heaters, conditioners, plumbing fixtures, appliances like taps, sinks, tubs and toilets.
  • Inspect and maintain the main water supply including water pump and water levels in the hospital.
  • Inspect plumbing systems to detect and locate leakages and observe pressure gauges.
  • Inspect and monitor sewage pile up, participate in fumigation of septic tanks and kitchens, schedule emptying of septic tanks and monitor sewerage maintenance.
  • Inspect, monitor and submit water meter usage reports and write reports regarding plumbing work.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely communication of faulty equipment and timely repair of faulty equipment and systems.
  • Continuously identify areas for improved efficiency and be responsible for company property, tools and equipment entrusted to custody.
  • Adhere to all CoRSU Policies, Procedures and regulations.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Diploma in Plumbing or Water and Sewerage Engineering or Advanced Certificate in Plumbing from a recognized institution; Advanced Diploma in Plumbing or Water and Sewerage Engineering is an added advantage.
  • Advanced certificate qualification in water distribution & plumbing works in residential, commercial and industrial buildings is desired.
  • 3 years experience in an institutional hospital setting and experience working in a busy environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures for installation and maintenance.
