Job Details

The Project Assistant – Productive Learning will provide technical and operational support for the implementation of the Productive Learning Flourishing Pathway under the UNLOCK program model. The role involves planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, documentation, and reporting of Productive Learning interventions in Area Programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of Productive Learning activities in line with the UNLOCK programming model, National Teacher Policy, ECCE, NIECD policy guidelines, Education Act 2008, and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Productive Learning interventions across Area Programs.
  • Provide technical support, mentorship, and coaching to head teachers, teachers, pre-primary teachers, VHTs, and Government counterparts.
  • Coordinate training of TaRL/UCatchUp, Let's Learn to Read in collaboration with CPTCs and CCTs.
  • Conduct Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for in-service and pre-primary teachers.
  • Conduct routine post-training support, monitoring, and assessments of project performance.
  • Establish safe and inclusive play spaces using low/no cost materials.
  • Investigate inclusion and gender gaps in education service provision and design initiatives to increase enrolment, retention, and performance.
  • Train frontline workers in Smart Start approach.
  • Support routine collection, verification, compilation, analysis, and reporting of Productive Learning data.
  • Maintain high-quality databases and ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of reports.
  • Support data quality assessments, supportive supervision, and routine monitoring visits.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with district local governments, CCTs, Education-Centric CSOs, Teachers' Associations, schools, and communities.
  • Support preparation of annual work plans, procurement plans, budgets, and activity schedules.
  • Follow up procurement of technical supplies, training materials, and programming commodities.
  • Support compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, safeguarding, and risk management procedures.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or PL Specialist.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Education: Diploma in Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Adult Education or other relevant education-related field from a recognized institution. Bachelor's degree is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in implementing ECCE, TaRL/UCatchUp, Let's Learn to Read, and Youth and adolescent programming.
  • Experience working with CPTCs, teachers, caregivers, pre-primary teachers, community engagement, and NGOs is an added advantage.
  • Experience in No/Low-Cost play material development is an added advantage.
  • Classroom experience preferably in teacher training and ECCE is preferred.
  • Experience organizing trainings (CPDs), supportive supervision, and mentorship for teachers.
  • Experience supporting monitoring, reporting, and data management.
  • A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor, and full agreement with FH's Christian beliefs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of ECCE, teacher development, TaRL/UCatchUp, Let's Learn to Read, youth and adolescent programming.
  • Understanding of Education and Youth systems strengthening approaches.
  • Good report writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to organize trainings, CPD, meetings, and community dialogues.
  • Strong coordination, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management.
  • Experience using DHIS2, KoboCollect/ODK, CommCare, or similar digital data collection platforms is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of systems thinking programming is an added advantage.
  • Strong facilitation skills with an understanding of adult-learning theory.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of local languages spoken in the implementation areas is an added advantage.
