Role: Radiographer at Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) — responsible for performing X-ray and ultrasound (USG) examinations in accordance with established protocols, safety standards and hygiene measures, ensuring patient privacy and contributing to improved health outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound imaging equipment safely.
  • Position patients correctly to capture high-quality diagnostic images as per physician requests.
  • Apply radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff (ALARA principle).
  • Review images for clarity and quality before forwarding to radiologists for interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging logs and radiation dose tracking.
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on radiography equipment.
  • Assist physicians during fluoroscopic and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Educate patients on imaging procedures and address any concerns or questions.
  • Ensure Patient Care & Imaging standards, Radiation & Safety Compliance, Quality Assurance & Reporting, and Equipment & Inventory Management as per KSL protocols.
  • Ensure patient privacy, hygiene and infection control during all imaging procedures.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Imaging or related field (Degree or Diploma in any of the above-mentioned qualifications accepted).
  • Minimum of 12 months (1 year) of relevant experience in diagnostic radiography / medical imaging.
  • Proficiency in operating X-ray, ultrasound (USG), CT and MRI equipment.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and protection (ALARA principle) and ability to minimize exposure.
  • Skills in patient positioning, image quality assessment and patient care.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, including imaging logs and radiation dose tracking.
  • Competence in calibration, routine maintenance and troubleshooting of radiography equipment.
  • Ability to assist in fluoroscopic and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Good communication and patient education skills.
  • Commitment to hygiene, safety standards and patient confidentiality.
