Regional Editorial and Knowledge Management Officer

SIHA is seeking an energetic self-starter to serve as Regional Editorial and Knowledge Management Officer to strengthen the quality, consistency and impact of the organization's publications, research, advocacy products and communications. The role works closely with SIHA's Communications, Advocacy, Research and Programme teams to provide editorial, analytical and content development support, ensuring written products effectively communicate the experiences, priorities and voices of women and girls across the Greater Horn of Africa. The position translates complex research and programme evidence into accessible, compelling and audience-specific content while ensuring consistency with SIHA's writing style, editorial standards and feminist principles. Duty station is Remote. Full-time role. Preference given to candidates residing in Africa with knowledge of the Greater Horn of Africa. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead editorial review, copy-editing and quality assurance of SIHA publications, research reports, policy papers, advocacy briefs, training manuals, concept notes, donor publications and other institutional documents to ensure accuracy, coherence, evidence-base and alignment with editorial standards and feminist principles
- Develop, revise and strengthen written content communicating SIHA's programmes, research, advocacy and organizational impact, including compelling stories, case studies, impact stories, opinion pieces, speeches and communications products amplifying voices and lived experiences of women and girls
- Work with Advocacy, Research and Programme teams to translate research findings, programme evidence and technical information into accessible products for diverse audiences including policy makers, donors, partners, media and the public
- Support development of research concept notes, analytical summaries, publications and knowledge products to strengthen SIHA's influence and thought leadership
- Maintain and continuously improve SIHA's editorial style guide, writing standards, templates and documentation formats and support staff to strengthen writing quality and consistency
- Promote effective knowledge management, documentation practices and organizational learning across the secretariat and country teams
- Collaborate with Communications and Advocacy team to review and strengthen website content, newsletters, social media messaging, campaign materials and digital communications for accuracy, engagement and consistent messaging and identity
- Provide editorial guidance, mentoring and writing support to programme teams, researchers, consultants and country offices throughout development of publications and communications products while managing multiple assignments
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, International Development, Gender Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, Law or another relevant discipline; candidates with a Bachelor's degree and substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in content development, editorial review, copy-editing, research communications, publishing or knowledge management within civil society, international development, academia or media
- Experience working on women's rights, gender equality, governance or human rights issues is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of editorial processes, research writing, policy communications, publication development, storytelling, knowledge management and content strategy; strong understanding of feminist discourse, advocacy communications and human rights documentation is highly desirable
- Exceptional writing, editing, analytical and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively
- Strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to manage multiple assignments and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp and major digital publishing and collaboration platforms; experience with data visualization, infographics, graphic design or multimedia content development is desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to feminist principles, women's rights and social justice; highly collaborative, adaptable, self-motivated, able to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and confidentiality
