Job Details
Mukwano Industries Limited seeks a Releasing Clerk – Warehouse to ensure accurate and timely release of cargo from the warehouse by verifying documentation, updating records, coordinating with relevant departments and ensuring compliance with warehouse and ICD procedures. Based at Mukwano ICD (U) Limited - Tororo, the role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor with delegated authority. Work involves interaction with warehouse teams, transporters, customers, clearing agents and regulatory authorities, and may require shift work, overtime, weekends or public holidays. Must comply with safety requirements and use appropriate PPE. Full-time, on-site (8 work hours).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify cargo release documents including delivery orders, customs documents, invoices and customer authorizations before releasing goods.
- Process and record cargo releases in the warehouse management system and maintain accurate documentation.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams, transporters, customers and clearing agents to facilitate smooth cargo collection.
- Confirm cargo quantities, descriptions and conditions before release.
- Maintain accurate records of released cargo, stock movements and outstanding deliveries.
- Prepare daily cargo release reports and submit operational updates to the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse procedures, customs requirements and company policies.
- Resolve documentation discrepancies and escalate issues to relevant departments.
- Support stock reconciliation and periodic warehouse audits.
- Maintain proper filing and safe custody of cargo release documents.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, Warehouse Management or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in warehouse operations, logistics, cargo handling or ICD operations.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of warehouse and cargo release procedures.
- Good understanding of logistics and documentation processes.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good computer skills and ability to use ERP/WMS systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
- Mentally stable and able to work with concentration under pressure.
