Job Details
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) office in Uganda is seeking enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to support digital outreach and communication efforts. This is an Online Volunteering assignment (Remote) for 12 weeks, requiring 11-15 hours per week (source lists 8 hours in one section, 11-15 hours in detailed assignment). The initiative aims to increase the visibility of the valuable work undertaken by the UNV communication team and to strengthen the growth and uptake of the Online Volunteering service at the country level by engaging a wider network of volunteers to raise public awareness, strengthen community engagement, and expand the reach of the UNV programme in Uganda. The assignment is aligned to Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Volunteers will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and will receive training, messaging guidelines, and visual assets. This is a volunteer opportunity with no disclosed base salary (Base Salary: Not Disclosed). Competitive recruitment for 25 Online Volunteer assignments under Modality: Online, Host entity: UNV.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Content Promotion: Share and promote corporate and local content on various digital and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Content Creation: Develop creative ideas and content (posts, articles, graphics, short videos) to engage diverse local audiences and raise awareness of key messages and stories relevant to Uganda.
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with local organizations and communities to foster partnerships and increase campaign reach.
- Event Support: Organize and participate in local online events, such as virtual discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling sessions.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and report on engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities.
- Promote volunteerism through action and conduct in all assignments, in line with UNV values.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Required Skills: Strong communication and writing skills, creativity, and a good understanding of social media platforms. Online Volunteers should have active accounts on at least three of the social media platforms mentioned above (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Desired Skills (Advantage): Experience in content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience: Minimum 12 months of experience required.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local Ugandan language, including Luganda (Level: Fluent, Desirable), is a strong asset.
