Advocate for Community Development and Environmental Protection (ACODEP) is recruiting for an upcoming multi-sectoral initiative focused on women's participation in environmental peacebuilding, climate action, GBV/SGBV prevention, human rights protection, and environmental justice.

The Social Work Officer will provide community-based social support and contribute to programmes addressing vulnerability, protection, GBV/SGBV, child protection, women's empowerment, youth, and community wellbeing. This is a 1-Year Renewable Contract position based in Kampala. Duty Station: Kampala. Employment Type: Contract (Full-time, 8 hours). Number of Positions: 3. ACODEP is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach and mobilisation.
  • Identify vulnerable individuals, families, and groups requiring support.
  • Provide basic psychosocial and social support within the scope of the role.
  • Facilitate appropriate referrals to specialised service providers.
  • Support GBV/SGBV prevention and awareness activities.
  • Support child-protection and safeguarding initiatives.
  • Promote women's and youth participation in community development.
  • Work with community leaders, service providers, and local authorities.
  • Maintain confidential records of cases and community interventions.
  • Conduct follow-up visits where appropriate.
  • Support community training and awareness sessions.
  • Prepare field reports and contribute to programme monitoring.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in community-based social work or development programming is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and referral principles.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable communities.
