VVOB – education for development is seeking a Strategic Education Advisor – Policy and (government) Partnerships to be based at its office in Kampala, Uganda. The advisor is the key technical and strategic resource person for education policy and government partnerships. The position reports to the Programmes Manager and is part of the Strategy Department, working closely with the education and M&E/Research department in Uganda and the programmes team at the Global Office in Brussels. This is a full-time position (8 hours per day) focused on policy dialogue, government partnerships and scaling of education interventions in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop relevant and scalable projects in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders within Uganda
- Provide both short- and long-term strategic advice, information and guidance to VVOB and VVOB’s partners on education policy and partnership domains at country level, in line with policy trends, new developments and the latest research in education and international development
- Take up a variety of roles in ensuring fidelity of programme implementation, including the capacity development process, according to the needs, particular situations and phases of the country programmes
- Create and manage partnerships and strong networks with relevant partners, institutions and organisations, with emphasis on government (Ministry of Education and Sports) and development partners
- Contribute to internal and external knowledge development and learning by systematising lessons learned and proactively sharing lessons between partners, colleagues and other VVOB country teams
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor degree required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience
- Expertise in education policy analysis, partnership management and government relations preferred
- Knowledge of Ugandan education sector policy landscape and international development trends
- Strong strategic advisory, advocacy and stakeholder mobilisation skills
- Excellent analytical, communication and networking abilities
