VVOB – education for development is seeking a Strategic Education Advisor – School Leadership to be based at its office in Kampala, Uganda. The advisor is the key technical and strategic resource person in the domain of school leadership within and outside VVOB. The position reports to the Programmes Manager and is part of the Strategy Department, working closely with the education and M&E/Research department in Uganda and the programmes team at the Global Office in Brussels. This is a full-time position (8 hours per day) focused on strengthening school leadership in Uganda in close partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports and partners such as Mastercard Foundation through programmes like Leaders in Teaching.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop relevant and scalable projects in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders within Uganda
• Provide both short- and long-term strategic advice, information and guidance to VVOB and VVOB’s partners on school leadership and related educational domains at country level, in line with policy trends, new developments and the latest research in education and international development
• Take up a variety of roles in ensuring fidelity of programme implementation, including the capacity development process, according to the needs, particular situations and phases of the country programmes
• Create and manage partnerships and strong networks with relevant partners, institutions and organisations including Ministry of Education and Sports, NCDC, UNITE and district education offices
• Contribute to internal and external knowledge development and learning by systematising lessons learned and proactively sharing lessons between partners, colleagues and other VVOB country teams

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor degree required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience
• Experience and expertise in school leadership, effective school leadership and teacher professional development preferred
• Strong understanding of policy trends, new developments and latest research in education and international development
• Proven capacity development, partnership management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent communication, advisory and networking skills
