Duty Station: Kampala | Kampala (Makerere University Main Campus, Makerere Hill Road)
Employment Type: Full-time, 4-year contract
Remuneration: PU7 (Makerere University Salary Scale)
Age Limit: Applicants should not exceed fifty five (55) years of age at the time of application

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Job Purpose: Assist in formulating, reviewing and maintaining standard operating procedures for use in the workplace (Laboratories).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate reports, inventories and orders in the Unit
- Generate budgets and account for use of physical resources of the Unit
- Manage the use of laboratory equipment and facilities
- Compile reports and inventories
- Requisition, maintain and account for financial and other resources
- Prepare and supervise students’ practicals
- Liaise with and provide support to the academic staff in the teaching of practicals
- Participate in research to inform best practices in the Department
- Implement and maintain guidelines and regulations to ensure quality assurance, control and safety in unit
- Induct and mentor junior staff in the unit on technical skills
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Laboratory Technology
- At least 3 years relevant working experience in Physiology practical and experimental procedures
- Customer Care
- Ability to communicate precisely and concisely
- Analytical skills
- Proficiency in using machines and computers
- Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
- Tenure of Appointment: 4-year contract
