Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH) Diocese of Jinja, a newly established state-of-the-art Private Not For Profit (PNFP) hospital in Jinja City founded by the Trustees of the Catholic Diocese of Jinja under the Ecclesiastical Province of Tororo Archdiocese, is urgently recruiting self-motivated, patient-centred and passionate support cadres. The Caterer will be based in Jinja and will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to patients and staff while upholding hygiene, dietary compliance and Christ-centred compassionate care. This is a full-time position (8 work hours) reporting within the hospital support services structure. Applicants must have a valid professional operation license and be registered with the relevant council bodies where applicable, and will undergo reference checks and safeguarding screening in accordance with Diocesan recruitment policies. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals to patients and staff.
- Assist in planning balanced, nutritious and age-appropriate menus.
- Follow dietary plans and restrictions for patients and ensure dietary compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Distribute meals to patients in a timely manner.
- Monitor stock levels of food supplies and communicate low-stock items; maintain accurate inventory records.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and infection prevention standards in line with hospital policies.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Catering, Food Production or related field.
- Experience in bulk cooking/institutional catering.
- Minimum experience of 12 months (1 year) in a busy catering/hospitality environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of menu planning, dietary requirements, food hygiene and safety.
- Good inventory management and communication skills.
- Patient-centred, self-motivated and passionate with ability to work in a busy hospital environment.
- Valid professional operation license and registration with relevant council bodies where applicable.
